Donyell Marshall has signed with the Cavs. He’s a solid guy, a great 6th man and spot starter at the 4. Most importantly he’s a good shooter. The downside? He’s signed for 4 years, which might be too long for a guy who’s already 32. Hopefully he stays in good shape and ages well. He might start, but I think he’d be best suited in a Robert Horry-like role off the bench.
And
Sarunas Jasikevicius is next? That would be very promising -- Sarunas is not a complete NBA player (great shooter, but not tested from NBA 3-point distance, average passer) but would give the Cavs some talents they sorely need. And I give Ferry major kudos for snagging him.
I’m still waiting on whether Gooden gets dealt. Supposedly the Cavs are still pursuing above-minimum guys.
UPDATE: Sarunas signed with the Pacers. So much for trusting the unofficial media reports. And so much for the NBA making the offseason worth getting too excited about. Can someone please explain to me why the NBA has rules preventing free agency signing right in the mddle of summer? It just does not make sense.
