John Kuntz/The Plain Dealer
One final note from Game 1 of the Cavs vs. Pistons series last night was the underrated maniacal play of one Sasha Pavlovic. In all seriousness, Sasha probably provided more exciting moments than anybody last night. This especially rings true considering these two events took place throughout a 79-76 game in the
conference freaking finals!
The first moment of mention goes to the dancin' move Sasha put on Pistons villain Rasheed Wallace. Basically, Pavlovic got Wallace into a hold and swung him to the ground. This was really only exciting based on the fact that it involved Wallace who has a reputation as such that most viewers thought something big was about to go down. However, it ended up being a big let down once it became apparent that this wasn't even about to escalate into much of a squabble. Damn.
Grade: BThankfully Sasha righted the ship in his second act of the evening. Late in the game during an apparent Detroit breakaway ol' Sasha draws blood from Piston guard Chauncey Billups with a swipe at his nose. Thankfully, no "intentional foul" was called.
I don't know how to compliment you in your native language Sasha so we'll just settle for a "muy bien." Muy bien Sasha, muy bien.
Grade: AIn years past the Cavs were the victoms of acts like these. Hell, I even remember the Bulls 15 years back calling the Price & Daugherty Cavs "marshmellows." I gotta admit, its a good feeling to have villains like Sasha and the wild thing Anderson Varejao on our side for a change. This is expecially amusing considering that of all people, Sasha is the Cavaliers player most known for his "my offense is my defense" quote after having his defense ridiculed by coach Mike Brown. Its better them than us I suppose.
