I think it just might be a good idea if security in Williamsport, Pa keeps an eye out for Mel Hall this summer at the Little League World Series. The former Indian (circa the Ed Vande Berg era) was
arrested this weekend on child molestation charges in Texas.
From the AP wire report:
"Former major league outfielder Mel Hall has been charged with sexually assaulting two girls in 1998 and 1999 when he was coaching them on a select basketball team.
The 46-year-old Hall was released from jail Friday on $35,000 bail. He was arrested the previous day on charges of sexual assault of a child under 17 and aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14, police said Saturday. The second charge carries a possible life sentence because of the age of the alleged victim.
When Hall was arrested, there was also an unrelated outstanding warrant on a theft charge, police said. "
I think it’s safe to say we won’t be seeing Hall (or his gericurl for that matter) at any future 80’s nights at the Jake for about the next 15 years or so. In all seriousness, however much jail time ol’ Mel receives certainly will not be enough. Then again, this is in Texas. Texas?!?! Don't they execute people for stealing cable down there?
One last thing. Is Soul-Glo considered “contraband” in the joint? If so, I don't even want to know how he manages to sneak that in.
