Browns 2nd Round Pick Wright Reports...For Late Night Conditioning Test

Eric Wright, the Browns' second round pick in the April draft, reported to Berea at around 11 p.m. Friday night. Immediately upon signing officially signing is contract, coaches made the rookie run his conditioning test.

So...um, is this Berea Ohio or Marine basic training in Parris Island, South Carolina?

From the sounds of this it seems all Wright was missing in his indoctrination was the drill in which Romeo Crennel plays the roll of the drill instructor with the "get off my bus!" routine as the rookie plays the roll of the sleepy-yet-scared shitless recruit frantically looking for the yellow footprints to stand in front of the receiving building.

Seemingly, this may be another indicator of coach Crennel toughening up a bit considering his job is at stake more than ever. On friday, Romeo seemed to display a slight Bill Parcells impression with his reference to holdout Brady Quinn as "the quarterback" instead of simply referring to him as: St. Brady, His Quinness, or quite simply as Brady...Lakewood's favorite Brown since Tom Cousineau!

"Eazy-E" Wright, on the other hand, has a very good chance to be the Browns rookie this season who can contribute the most right away. He took the late night workout in stride (not that he had a choice mind you) and will be just fine this year. In fact, he could very well be starting opposite Leigh Bodden on September 9th vs. Shittsburgh.

Personally, I'm fine with Romeo taking a little bit more of a no nonsense approach this year. What does he have left to lose? He no longer gets to choose his assistant coaches. He's likely still going to be stuck starting Charlie Frye for at least the first month of the season. Oh, and dispite the fact that he's coaching a team that realistically would look at a 7-9 season as a good year right now, he's the coach in the NFL on the hottest seat right now...while coaching in arguably in the league's toughest division.

Hey, at this point he doesn't have much left to lose. If anything, Romeo Crennel might as well go down doing it his own way.
