Lost in the madness of the Tribe's playoff run and the Browns and their suprising start is the fact that the Cavs tip off a week from tonight. For those of you who are hoping this team will defend its conference title with some ease as the team makes its "leap forward" think again. Don't believe me? Ask LeBron himself.
In a Q&A session with the ABJ's Brian Windhorst, LeBron point blank stated that the team is "worse than last year" without holdouts Anderson Varejao and Sasha Pavlovic.
Q: How much better or worse are you guys without them?
A: Oh,
we're worse. We're not as good as we were if we have those guys. It's simple. We
all know that. Those two guys are a big part of our team. There's no reason to
sit here and say we're better without them. I think they're a key point to our
team. At the same time, we have to continue to get better while they are not
here. Hopefully something happens.
Granted, its a "no shit" type of answer, but the fact that LeBron is even saying anything at all should speak volumes. Right now he's looking at the big 3 in Boston, an improved Bulls and Raptors squads and he looks in his own locker and has to be on the verge of smacking Danny Ferry on the back of his bald head. Just a hunch.
Without out the starting shooting guard and Wild Thing this team will have a tough time earning home court in the playoffs this year. With them, they have a chance to get back to the finals. Get it done Cavs.
