Larry Johnson, Steven Jackson, Frank Gore, Lawrence Maroney, Travis Henry, Shaun Alexander...the list goes on. All these guys were top-12 picks in virtually every fantasy draft and all are for the most part total abortions in terms of matching expectations this year. What the hell?
I can't help but wonder if this many first round running back busts is a fantasy first? If not I wan't evidence! Until then, I'm gonna just chart this one off as a perfect storm for injuries, pending drug suspensions, and the Eddie George/Terrell Davis workload syndrome simply catching up to a few guys (LJ and Alexander) all in one swoop. Either way, it's complete and utter bullshit and should never happen again.
For the second week in a row the Browns will be taking on a team who's offense features a total fantasy football bust at running back. Hey, at least the guy this time is someone at least
some of us saw coming. Win or lose, at least you Shaun Alexander owners can rely on the Browns to break him out of his fantasy slump this week.
That is the bad news for Browns fans...well, unless you choose to ignore the fact that Cleveland won't get to watch the Colts vs. Pats game on CBS this Sunday. Hey, it's only the biggest regular season game of all time. No big deal. No, really thanks NFL for your gay little T.V. rules...we'll be ok.
However, the good news for Cleveland is that once again the Browns are entering Sunday as a Vegas favorite once again. Sure it's only a one point advantage, but damn we'll take it.
This week, it seems no matter where you turn there is one Derek Anderson story after another. Hey why not? The guy is riding on a gravy train with biscuit wheels right now. For as long as he can ride this wave I, as well as Vegas, will be sticking with the Browns with my picks as long as their offense seems to be scoring at will. It's that simple this week.
Ok, just to make it look like I researched something...
Seattle is 1-2 on the road this year with the losses coming in Pittsburgh and Arizona (
Arizona!?!), while their lone road win has come versus the struggling 49ers. Clearly, this is a team that has had some road struggles. The fact that they are playing their first game in two weeks could also be a factor Sunday. I'm going Brownies on a hunch.
Prediction: Browns 24 - Seahawks 23I'll close this post with probably one of the goofiest things that I've come across from the 80's sports music video craze. This clip is a far cry from "The Superbowl Shuffle" or even "Lets go Mets." One can only hope watching this clip won't lead to me dreaming of the "blue wave" tonight. Enjoy.
