As the great comedian George Carlin would say, this is just another step in the great "pussification" of the American male.
Apparently, some people are upset with Arthur Blank, who happens to be the owner of the Atlanta Falcons, for having concerns about his star player's eating habits while he serves 23 months in the clink.
Supposedly, everybody's got a
mental "titty twister" right now because Blank said last night on MNF that he prefers Vick to not eat "too much fried chicken and french fries" while in prison. The logic, of course, from Blank's point of view is for the scrambling quarterback to come out in great shape and actually have a chance at suceeding in the NFL after his 2-plus year layoff.
If you ask me, this is a reasonable proposition. Word around the campfire is that most prison food is pretty carb and fat laden without much focus on good health. After all, it is fucking prison food he will be eating for quite some time over the next year or two. As the team owner, it is safe to say
Blank has a vested interest in the matter.
Naturally, our political correctness police saw this statement completely different. Anyone who even took offense to this should be shot immediately on gounds of stupidity. Seriously, a lot of this crap carries about as much weight as some of the 9/11 conspiracy theories. Anyway, isn't it
mostly white people who are making the biggest commotion with this? ESPN's Mike & MIKE, Sportscenter, talk radio, the blogs, etc. everbody should just get a fucking life and move on.
Don't fault Arthur Blank for being racist because he is not by any stretch of the imagionation. This guy was one of the key NFL owners who
helped create the "Rooney Rule" to promote the advancement of African American coaches in the NFL. This isn't even close to being a Fuzzy Zoeller episode by any means. If anything, the guy is hoping for Mike Vick to come out in good enough shape to have a chance so he can contribute to the NFL and make an honest wage again.
