Apparently Pete Rose thinks he is
now a moral authority for the rest of baseball in claiming that drugs are "making a mockery" of the sport. God help us.
Last night on Dennis Miller’s show on the Vs network, Rose claimed he’s an “alter boy” compared to the players in the steroid era. He also claimed he would have had over 5,000 hits if he were on the juice. There is no doubt they’d all be singles.
What??? Is this guy serious? He really thinks what he did really isn’t a big deal. This is the same guy who denied betting on baseball games (including those he managed as well) for fifteen years until he finally admitted it so he could sell a book titled
My Prison Without Bars. Dick.
I’m having a hard time figuring out the guy’s logic as to how he thinks what he did is no big deal. He bet on the Reds to win is his justification. However, one can also make a good argument that games he didn’t bet at all on the Reds could be interpreted as saying they would lose. The league is explicit in its penalties for betting on baseball…lifetime banishment. Quite simply, if this were allowed by baseball, the sport would go on to eventually be as real as WWE wrestling.
"If you're going to put these guys that supposedly did steroids into the Hall of
Fame, I mean I've got to get a shot somewhere," he said.
