I am punchy. This predraft stuff is killing me, it is all a blur.
Why am I even bothering writing anything when it is just hours before the draft and now one is going to read this?
Because I guess I always wanted to write one of those articles where you don't have to have a train of thought--where you don't have to make things sound right.
So here are some random thoughts just hours before the 2007draft.
Ryan Kalil is still my favorite player in this draft...with Laron Landry a close second.
Does anybody really think that John Beck of the dreaded WAC is better than Troy Smith? Come on!!!
I am sure Beck would have been terrific against Florida after a 60 day layoff--or whatever it was.
do yourself a favor and watch the draft on the NFL Network and bag ESPN. Have you ever seen (or unfortunately heard) a bigger bunch of blowhards than that all star cast assembled this year? The ex 49er QB, I can't even remember his name. I told you I was punchy. Keshawn Johnson, now there's a guy who adds alot of credibility to the show...Chris Berman, who never saw a pick he didn't like..now he is a real controversial guy! He should be doing the NBA draft with that coach with the gray perm.
Kiper, though, is making a comeback in my mind. He has taken on all comers, Todd McShay, Mike Mayock etc. and he still has good opinions in my book. He knows where the players should be bought and he is not afraid to offer a take--hello Chris Berman.
Mel also knows who we are taking. Phil told him and he ain't sharing...but he has Quinn in his mock.
If the Browns take Quinn first they had better take a quality offensive lineman in the second round...hold off on the corner...YOU WIN WITH BIG PEOPLE!!! But please take Thomas in one. I hope Adam Caplan is right on this one.
Thomas will succeed because of his work ethic and athleticism.
You know what, alot of the guys drafted over the weekend will fail because of poor positional coaching in the NFL...Robert Gallery just went back to Iowa to get some good coaching. He ain't getting it in Oakland.
Who is going to coach up Crennel on challenges?
And last but not least...I don't want to hear anymore how the Browns need a team PRESIDENT. Where is all the talk now about a team PRESIDENT?
Did he Browns need a team PRESIDENT to add all those free agents? to trade Reuben? to prepare for the draft? No, No and No.
I am sure John Collins would have been a great help through this process.
Lastly, I will be at Shula Steak 2 for the OBR, how to see you there!
Go Browns...
